    Suitability 

    This class is aimed towards those with an interest in creating art but have never taken art classes, or for those who have taken art classes in the past and wish to revisit their passion. This class is also suitable for young people who are thinking of applying to art schools. If you wish to relax and have a bit of fun and learn about art or are looking to find a creative way to invigorate your life after work, this is the class for you.

    COURSE CONTENT

    1. Warming up exercises – quick practice of different lines

    2. Learn basic principles of perspective

    3. Scale and measurement of objects

    4. Explore different sketching tools; pencil, charcoal and pastels

    5. Draw simple still life and landscape

    Arts Class for Intermediate

    Starting Date

    • 11th Jan.  to 5th July  2018 on every Wednesday except half term and school  holidays

    Time & Fee

    • 1:00pm to 4:00pm : Drawing ; £ 24 per session

    Intermediate class is for students who have participated in the Arts Class for Beginners at Ming-Ai college or those at the same level. In this class, students will aim to refine previously acquired skills, techniques and develop.

    There are two parts:

    1. in-depth sketch exercises

    2. Basic principles of colour and methods of watercolour painting

    COURSE CONTENT

    In-depth sketch exercises

    1. Practice two sketching skills, line drawing and light/ shadow, then learn to apply in still life, landscape and portrait works;

    2. Further study the composition and use of different drawing materials;

    3. Help students gradually find their own learning advantages and style of drawing.

    Basic principles of colour and basic methods of watercolour painting

    1. Introduce watercolour tools, materials and the most basic use

    2. Introduce the colour principle and common sense of watercolour painting, learn the basic method of colour mix

    3. Step by step from simple to complex, learning basic watercolour in still life and landscape painting through a variety of watercolour techniques and skills.

    绘画中级班是针对在明爱学院院参加过初级班的学生或者那些具有同等水平学生的课程, 在这个课程中,学生将完善以前获得的技能,技巧及发展。课程为两部分:

    2. 色彩基本原理和水彩画的基本方法。

    1. 1 练习以线和以明暗为主的两种素描方法,并在静物,风景和人像绘画中的灵活应用;

    2. 2 进一步学习构图和不同绘画材料的使用;

    3. 3 帮助学生在学习当中逐渐发现自己的优点和绘画风格。

    色彩基本原理和水彩画的基本方法

    1. 介绍水彩画的工具材料和最基本的使用方法

    2. 介绍色彩原理和常识,学习水彩画的基本调色方法

    3. 由简到繁,学习水彩画的各种技法和不同的表现方法,学会最基本的水彩静物和风景的画法


    Ruijun Hu is an artist born in 1960. He attended Northwest Normal University Arts College, China and after graduating in 1987, stayed on to work as an arts teacher for three years. In 1991 he moved to London and studied at the London School of Printing and Graphic Arts, 2000.

    Between 2008 and 2010 he worked as one of the main artists on the Armada Painting Project, a series of six large scale paintings for the House of Lords. The paintings were exhibited in the Royal Gallery of the House of Lords where it was unveiled by Prince Andrew, the Duke of York. The works are now permanently displayed in the Prince's Chamber, House of Lords.

    In 2014, he held two solo exhibitions in Macao Army Club and Gu Yuan Arts Museum, invited by Macao Foundation and Gu Yuan Arts Museum Zhuhai, China. His oil painting’s "Little Scene of Macao " and "Grey Stone series" were collected by Macau Foundation and by Gu Yuan Arts Museum respectively.

    In addition to painting, Ruijun has taught and demonstrated Chinese calligraphy in several schools across the country and public places including London County Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank. He is also a talented Chinese Bamboo Flautist, performing both solo and as part of the London Chinese Orchestra and the Grand Union Orchestra throughout UK and Europe. He has also recorded flute music for multiple films and TV series. He is one of the co-founders of the Oriental Art Troupe of the UK and now the vice president of the British Chinese Artists Association.
