Betty Yao is currently the managing director at Credential International Arts Management. In 1992, she established the first Chinese language television channel in Europe, CNE, to bring China to a mainstream European public. Yao then became the program director at Asia House, a non-profit organization based in the United Kingdom that promotes the understanding of Asia in Europe. In 2007, she was awarded by the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her efforts to promote Asian culture in the UK.
Yao first saw John Thomson's negatives on a visit to London's Wellcome Library with the Asia House in 2006. She was struck by the geographic and social diversity of the beautifully composed images, as well as the photographer’s respect for his subjects. When Yao discovered that the photos had never been seen outside China, she determined to curate an exhibition of the digital prints to tour of China. The exhibition opened in April 2009 at the Beijing World Art Museum and toured to Fujian and Guangdong. The 2010 European tour opened at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, and travelled to the Burrell Collection in Glasgow, the Museum of East Asian Antiquities in Stockholm, and the Chester Beatty Collection in Dublin. Since then, the exhibition has returned to China for a second tour in Shenzhen, Nanjing, and Hangzhou.
Carol has degrees in Western history and Chinese language from the University of London and worked at the British Museum from 1991 where she was a curator in the Department of Asia, responsible for looking after all early material, all jades and snuff bottles. Carol is now semi-retired but continues to work part-time at the Museum and for one of its patrons. She has written catalogues and many articles on Chinese art. In 1999 she curated and wrote the catalogue of an exhibition of loan objects from China: GILDED DRAGONS: Buried Treasures from China’s Golden Ages which was opened by the President of China, Jiang Zemin, and Her Majesty the Queen.
More recently Carol has been involved in exhibitions in the British Museum, including The First Emperor in 2007, and in 2009 an exhibition of jades and bronzes from the Shanghai Museum. In 2010 she helped organize an exhibition of Qin and Han dynasty (221 BC –AD 220) material in the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, Stockholm and wrote part of the catalogue and 2013 curated and wrote the catalogue of an exhibition on the Terracotta Army and Treasures of the First Emperor and the Han dynasty in Finland.
Carol frequently lectures abroad on Chinese history and art. She is also a trustee of private ivory and jade collections and was President of the Oriental Ceramic Society, 2003-6.
David teaches on the Marketing Pathway. David has a wide-ranging experience of the UK's creative and cultural industries. After leaving the South Bank Centre as Head of Press and Publicity, he pursued a successful career as an arts marketing consultant and internet entrepreneur working for Virgin Airways and M&S. Rejoining the arts sector as Director of Communications at the Crafts Council, he later moved to the National Lottery and recently led a successful cultural development programme at King's College and Imperial College London.
Other postings include Director of Digital Services at the Creative and Cultural Skills Council and work for the British Council. He has been lecturing in the Department of Film, Media and Cultural Studies at Birkbeck College since 2000 and Ming-Ai ( London ) Institute since 2016.

Frances Wood studied art at Liverpool College of Art and Chinese at the University of Cambridge. She spent a year at the Beijing Languages Institute and Peking University, before completing her PhD work on traditional domestic architecture in the Beijing area. She worked in the School of Oriental and African Studies Library at the University of London before moving to the British Library in the early 1980s.
She retired in 2013 after more than 30 years there as curator and head of the Chinese collections at the British Library. Dr Wood is well published in Chinese culture and history; her books include Did Marco Polo Go to China? (1995), The Blue Guide to China (2002), The Silk Road (2003), The Forbidden City (2005) and Picnics Prohibited: Diplomacy in a Chaotic China during the First World War (2014) and Betrayed Alley (2107).
Jonathan is Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Ming-Ai (London) Institute, a British Chinese Heritage Charity. He provides strategic leadership and governance of the Board and ensures that the Board discusses all key and appropriate issues in a timely manner. At Ming-Ai, Jonathan has been instrumental in setting the strategic direction for securing sponsorship and research support. To this end, Ming-Ai has long term stakeholders who value the development of an in-depth understanding of British Chinese culture and how this has developed of time.
In addition, Jonathan has hands-on experienced in launching new ventures and start-up businesses and has been involved in transforming established businesses in both academic and public institutions in the United Kingdom, Europe, South East Asia and China. He was Professor of Global Business Management at Regent’s University London, where he was Assistant Dean for research, scholarship and engagement. He was Professor of Management and Assistant Dean for Research at Newport University and was Professor of Chinese Management and Director of the China Management Centre during his time at Middlesex University. He has been with the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David as a supervisor of research students since 2008 and continues to support research students and academic staff.

Roderick Whitfield is Percival David Professor, Emeritus, at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He studied with Cheng Te-k’un 鄭德坤 and Denis Twitchett 杜希德 at Cambridge, and with Wen Fong 方聞 and Shujirō Shimada 島田修二郎at Princeton. From 1968 to 1984 he was Assistant Keeper in the Department of Oriental Antiquities, The British Museum, and from 1984 onwards Professor of Chinese Art and Archaeology and Head of the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art. Currently he is a Fellow of the Palace Museum, Peking, and Fellow of the Dunhuang Academy.

Since moving to the UK in 2004, Xuhua Zhan has been working for the art heritage industry.
She has developed specialist skills and knowledge in collection care and arts conservation, gaining working experience at such institutions as the Tate Gallery, Institute of Conservation (ICON), International Institute for Conservation (IIC), the British Postal Museum & Archive, V&A, and Guangzhou Museum of Arts. Alongside this Xuhua has worked in a number of arts environments that have offered her valuable skills in curation, project management, developing education programs, art management and communication.
Xuhua has lectured in China and is coordinating an International cultural communication project, the CHINDEU project for the European Commission, and ICON. Xuhua Zhan received a Master's degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Art Conservation from the University of the Arts London and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China.
Liu Jia's is an expert on cultural heritage and museum interpretation, exhibition design, digital approaches and public education. He provides consultancy, research support and training for museums and heritage authorities in the range of heritage related directions and has successfully implemented major and interpretation projects in the past.
In recent years, he worked as a research staff and project manager within the Centre for Applied Archaeology, University College London, His ongoing works are mostly based in London and Mainland China, and he is responsible for extensive links and cooperation with partners in China.
