The British Chinese Workforce Heritage Project has been conducting oral history interviews with traditional Chinese healthcare practitioners and service providers in the UK. This August these stories will be showcased with an exhibition of photographs and archival materials.
The exhibition will present historical and contemporary images of: acupuncture, herbal medicines, cupping, moxibustion, tui na massage, gong fu, and tai ji quan. Practices which have been used by our interviewees throughout their working lives in the UK.
The impact of these traditional Chinese medicine practices in the UK in the areas of education, clinical research and community services will be explored through linking archive materials and historical documents with contemporary photographs of practices in use today.
