Charing Cross Exhibition: Chinese Medicine and Health Practices in the UK (22nd Aug 2014)

The British Chinese Workforce Heritage Project has been conducting oral history interviews with traditional Chinese healthcare practitioners and service providers in the UK. This August these stories will be showcased with an exhibition of photographs and archival materials.
The exhibition will present historical and contemporary images of: acupuncture, herbal medicines, cupping, moxibustion, tui na massage, gong fu, and tai ji quan. Practices which have been used by our interviewees throughout their working lives in the UK.

As a part of the British Chinese Food Culture Project, more events and activities are being organised!

Lecture on Chinese Tea and Tea Demonstration, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Handcrafting, Chinese dinner set display, Chinese Language Demonstration etc.  Display of project findings, free refreshments and gifts, and lots of fun!

The open day with free taster sessions are an opportunity to meet with some of the staff and students, and to find out more about studying at Ming-Ai.

The Institute offers affordable short courses and other tailor-made programmes for the general public, organises various workshops and also caters for specific groups with interests in Chinese culture.

Ming-Ai (London) Institute is proud to be offering the Healthy Chinese Cuisine Ambassadors project Cooking Workshop on the 24th June 2014. This is the third Cooking Workshop that has been offered by the project to teachers, the previous workshops being highly successful and met with a good responses.

bcfc-logoMing-Ai has celebrated its third oral history project The British Chinese Food Culture at St Martin-in-the-Fields, 3rd December 2011.  Counsellor Li Hui of Chinese Embassy, celebrity chefs Ken Hom O.B.E., Ching-He Huang, William Poon and Kam Po But, Mr Woon Wing Yip O.B.E., Mr Deh-Ta Hsiung, etc. had attended the ceremony, and shared their thought of Chinese food culture with the other guests.

Project Launch - British Chinese Workforce Heritage

Project Launch - British Chinese Workforce Heritage

Ming-Ai (London) Institute will launch a three-year project, The British Chinese Workforce Heritage, on 10th July 2012.  10-12 interns and up to 80 volunteers will be recruited to research and document the impact of Britain’s fourth largest ethnic minority community on life in the capital and elsewhere in the country.

A series of road shows held at Chinese community centres across London will help to identify up to 90 people who will be interviewed and their stories recorded as part of the project. These will include seamen and their families, those involved in laundering, catering and traditional medicine as well as newer professions.

GMN Professional Development Centre

Ming-Ai (London) Institute has been appointed as a Global Marketing Network Professional Development Centre in October 2010. Under the agreement Ming-Ai (London) Institute will be delivering Global Marketing Network approved programmes and workshops to support the continuing professional development of Chinese marketing and business executives. Ming-Ai also delivers a range of language and business culture programmes designed to support business professionals who want to enter the Chinese market and it is intended that Ming-Ai's expertise in this area will also be promoted across the GMN network, worldwide.
